For John Armleder, a disco ball is a “combination of pure form and movement, a sphere covered with a multitude of square elements, the rotating movement of an object that creates a changing environment with its reflections.”

This is how our iconic coffee cup was transformed into a disco ball. The series of cups created by John Armleder for the illy Art Collection is entitled “Tastes” and recreates the same light reflections and effects as that installation. He says: “A cup is a cup. On the other hand, it could reflect what it contains. And, he adds, it could represent time.”

The package contains four espresso cups.

John Armleder, one of the most influential Swiss artists of his generation, reinterprets our iconic cup, drawing inspiration from his celebrated disco ball installations.
 
The series, titled “Tastes,” seeks to recreate the same light reflections and luminous effects of the artist’s renowned immersive works.
