illy presents the new illy Art Collection curated by Robert Wilson.
The theme that inspired this collection is The Watermill Center, a laboratory for the arts and humanities founded in 1992 by Robert Wilson.
The five artists who have collaborated with Robert Wilson the realization of this series of coffee cups from the collection have been identified during the annual International Summer Program with the participation of nearly 100 artists from at least 30 different nationalities. The collection includes a cup designed by Robert Wilson.
The other five designs were selected between the works of all participants: Christopher Knowles, Hope Esser, Willie Filkowski, Clo'e Floirat and Gintare Minelgaite. Each cup that makes up this incredible illy Art Collection bears the signature of the artist and is available in limited edition.
The Artist Robert Wilson is one of the most important and celebrated visual artists and drama of our time. His research in the theatre combines art forms such as dance, music, text, sculpture and light. His works are able to provide images of great aesthetic power and the intense emotional charge. In 1992 he founded the Watermill Center in Southampton, Long Island about two hours from New York. His goal is simple. Provide shelter for young and emerging artists where they can give free rein to their creativity. "It's OK to make mistakes, it's OK to let go, it's OK to laugh."
